Best of Baking Basket Benefit – CLOSED

Ya’ll…. how has it been 3 years since I’ve featured my all-time favorite baking items?? I know you might be thinking… are the Chappell’s adopting again? And while we never know if God has more Chappells in store for us, right now we are really pressing into our family of 8 and letting God sustain us and grow us closer to Him and to each other.

So, why the benefit basket? Well, it’s been weighing heavy on our hearts and minds that we really need to file for the documentation that prove that Ezra and Evie are U.S. Citizens. See, while children who are adopted internationally do become citizens when the adoption is final thanks to the Child Citizenship Act of 2000. They often need something called a Certification of Citizenship vs. a Green Permanency Resident Card.  The C.O.C is the most definitive and permanent way of proving citizenship. It does not expire. Social Security Administration requires the COC in order to list your child as a citizen in its database. And Evie and Ezra may need this document to prove citizenship when traveling abroad, enrolling in college, applying for financial aid, obtaining a driver’s license, joining the military or applying for a job. But this important document runs a hefty $1,170.00 per person So… there’s that. (do I think that’s one thing of many that need to change about our immigration policy… you BET I do!!)

Also, we were blessed to have any adoption cost overages be able to be covered by a NO interest loan through the Abba Fund. This is an incredible ministry that supports families in adoption by providing grants and no-interest loans! For almost 8 years we have happily been paying on our loan that we used for final payments for our international adoptions. It’s the bill that we smile to pay on because it’s towards the best investment we’ve EVER made!! But we know that this ministry helps many adoptive families in need and we would love to have this loan paid in full!

So…that’s what each and every donation will go towards!!

So… Here’s how this collection of goodies worth over $700+ can find a home in your kitchen this holiday season!!

Let’s kick off this fabulous collection with the BEST and most essential thing a baker could ask for and that’s a KITCHEN AID MIXER. We got one as a wedding gift and it has been used countless times and keeps on keeping on. So you get one! Includes a flat beater attachment, dough hook, wire whip! And….. YOU GET TO PICK THE COLOR you want!!  I have loved my matte finish black mixer because it goes with everything and looks super sleek! But every one of the colors are so beautiful!!

Next up is an appliance that I didn’t have until a few years ago… and I honestly don’t know how I lived without it as long as I did. I use it for EVERYTHING. It’s super helpful in making Abel and Isla’s homemade formula, it scrambles the best eggs, and makes homemade salad dressings a breeze to create. You can use it for so many things.  This emulsion blender is the bomb!!

Speaking of bomb, Something that’s the bomb.DOT.com…. and has quickly become one of my favorite kitchen appliance, is the Amazon Dot! It sits on my counter and it keeps me company when I’m in front of a sink of dishes. I tell it to “play Adele”, “read Braving the Wilderness”, and “play NPR” and all is well. So of course I HAD to include it.

These Cloth Napkins might just be my favorite thing in this whole basket!! I LOVE them! I grew up with cloth napkins. My mom knew that a family of 11 would go through far too many paper towels and paper napkins… so she made cloth napkins and we used them over and over. And it kinda just stuck with me. So, You’re getting this fabulous set of 12 black and white plaid cloth napkins. I think it’s Christmasy but also can be great for any season year round!! I adore black and white anything… so I know these will add a classic pop to any tablescape!

This spatula and spoonula from William- Sonoma are a must have in the kitchen. The wooden handles are super durable and the silicone doesn’t chip! I love giving these as gifts because who doesn’t need them.  Also, this batter bowl from World Market is awesome for just about ANY mixing, blending, stirring, and even serving!

Are ya’ll in love with all the charcuterie boards I’m seeing on Instagram lately? I am. My friend @thebakermama is queen of them!  So I’m including a large acacia wood charcuterie board and a slate cheese board both from World Market!

I think by this time of the post you might be tired of hearing me say… “my favorite” But what can I say, it’s the BEST OF Baking Basket! It’s full of what I think are the best of’s!! And I’m a sucker for copper! So I thought it would only be fitting to include these gems. I love these specifically because the measurements are imprinted on the bottom so it doesn’t get rubbed off or worn off the handle. Cause ain’t nobody got time for that, right?! 🙂

Also… Meet my BFF during the holiday season. Hello Mulling Spices!! I get a bottle EVERY YEAR this time of year from Williams-Sonoma. I actually don’t use it to make mulling cider. Every day I sprinkle some in a pot with water and sometimes add some vanilla or orange peels and let it simmer away smelling up the house in the most delightful way! Speaking of Vanilla. Ya’ll are going to think I’m crazy, but the ONLY vanilla I’ll use is Adam’s best! You might just be a Texan when any other vanilla just won’t do. ( I was born in TX so my blood runs part Dr.pepper, part Bluebell Ice cream, part salsa, and part Adams Vanilla.)  I put this stuff in everything. It’s the secret ingredient to my Rice Krispie treats It smells DIVINE! So… the winner get a bottle!!

If you’ve never grated real nutmeg vs. buying store bought… then you’re missing out. So I’m giving you a tin of nutmeg nuts and a grater! I promise you’ll thank me for it.

This little guy may be the tiniest thing in my kitchen drawer but when I’m baking… I’m so thankful I have it. Gone are the days of big ol‘ knife marks in the top of cakes or brownies!  And it’s super cute and doesn’t take up much space in your silverware drawer but is always right there when you need it.

I also LOVE these Kuhn Rikon kitchen knives. You can get them in all kinds of colors which makes them easy to find and great for not cross contaminating ingredients. I love this slick black one.

I’m also including these stone Magnolia salt and pepper cellars. I fill them with pepper and Himalayan pink salt which is so good for you and provides so many important minerals our bodies need. I’m sending you a bag of that too.

Now, onto cookie making. We are a house that takes chocolate chip cookies seriously! We have made them so much we can do it without the recipe. I’ve included all the things that take them to the next level and makes them a breeze to make.

A cookie scoop is something that helps make cookie making super fun, gives uniform cookies and speeds up the process! Vanilla, as mentioned above, A SUPER large commercial baking sheet which is a must-have for cranking out enough cookies for a group! Parchment paper sheets… from bacon to cookies, it’s essential and life changing! 🙂

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these three books. I had to include each and every one because I think they are all so beautiful, well written and nourishment for your heart, mind and soul!

Bread and Wine by Shauna Niequist is such a tribute to hospitality and togetherness. She has powerful reminders through her story that perfection isn’t required to open up your table and her recipes are awesome too.

The Ministry of Ordinary Places is the second book by my dear friend Shannan Martin. Her first book Falling Free was extremely powerful and convicting. And this one is incredible too, it is so full of grace-filled stories of how to commune well and serve those near the heart of Jesus right where you are at.  AND… no matter what you do, PLEASE go to her blog and sign up to get her newsletter. I’m serious when I say I get giddy when it arrives in my inbox.

Magnolia Table – This is a beauty of a coffee table book and is filled with amazing recipes and beautiful images as well. Her banana bread…. it’s to die for!

And for all those recipes that we just want to hang on to because maybe they are written in our loved ones handwriting, or maybe it’s not found in a book anywhere, you can have this lovely recipe box! It’s so pretty!

Last but not least is a bottle of my favorite cleaner THIEVES.  With 6 kids you can imagine that life is messy at the Chappell home.  Now, I’m not an oil addict or anything, but when I tried this cleaner I was shocked at how it cut grease and pretty much powered through anything I threw at it. (true story… I once went far too long in cleaning my microwave because I was out of this and I knew nothing else would hold a candle to it.)  So it has me spoiled. But I also love that it’s full of natural ingredients and has the best smell ever! So I’m including a bottle of the concentrate. I promise you’ll love it too.

So HERE IT IS!!!! You KNOW you want this on your doorstep in time for Christmas just as much as we want our sweet kiddos to feel secure and know they belong in our country! Thank you for helping donate towards their certification of citizenship and to finally have their adoption loan paid in full! What a blessing that will be!! (Ya’ll, but let me be clear, even if we had to pay on it the REST of our lives though… it’s WORTH it 10000 x over!!)  Don’t let debt or doubt stop you from running towards where God is leading! <3 #followHimpoor #followHimscared #followHimwhenitfeelsCrazy
